If Orion can't cripple or kill his opposite with one small strike, he isn't going to fight. He aims for the body’s natural weak points such as arteries and tendons. As he won't last in a full on fight he tries to either talk his way out of one starting, gets out of the way, or tries to end it quickly.

Physical Description:
Orion is a nineteen year old human male and counts himself as wholly unremarkable in appearance. He has grey eyes that are often hidden behind long silver locks. His hair is rarely cut and as such has reached down to his hips. To keep it out of his eyes, he will often wear headbands. His hair is rather thick and can be a pain to upkeep, but he doesn't know much more than keeping it clean and occasionally brushing out the tangles so it will end up with him letting it just hang down his back more often than not. The combination of his long hair and fairly thin frame, makes Orion appear very unintimidating.
At 5 foot 10, he weighs about 146lbs. His lean body means he’s not likely to win an honest head to head contest against larger opponents. He’s got long legs for his overall body. More importantly, his fingers are long and dexterous, helping him be adept at working with small detailed things. His fairly light skin tone doesn’t generally burn under the sun but it also doesn’t usually tan either. In a rare moment of recklessness, he tattooed a serpent on his right arm and part of his chest in blood red. The serpent head angles up toward his shoulder and the tail curls around front under his arm, up his chest.
Normally, he takes great consideration for what he wears. He understands that how you appear conveys a message about you and generally what he intends to convey is non-threatening. Plain pants, shirt and shoes is his norm. He may toss a simple coat over top but since starting on his journey he’s adopted to wearing a belt he can hang a simple knife from. Another strap across his hip hooks a small pouch to his side for simple medical items such as bandages, needle and thread. He also tends to carry a slightly larger bag for other more standard supplies that change out as he needs them or buys things.

Psychological Description:
If nothing else is to be said about Orion, it would have to be that he is a very logical person. He considers his actions before acting upon them as a general rule. That is not to say he will never be brash, but that he tries to avoid situations where he has to make split second decisions. Generally his plans are very well thought out and turn out a whole lot better than when he is forced to make quick decisions. He’s just not good at flying by the seat of his pants. He won’t take five hours to decide what to order off a menu but he’s going to be much more effective at pre-battle planning then altering plans in the middle of a fight because of changes. As such, he comes across as very inflexible and honestly, he doesn’t like when his perfect plans get muddled up. Things need to be orderly not only in the world before him but in his head.
This is the primary reason he is fascinated with illness. It’s something that is at once out of order and oddly set. It is something that happens to the body and there are distinct reasons and reactions even though it is a state of disorder in the body. He honestly doesn’t see his practice with medicine as a job, even though he is very sure about getting paid for it. Medicine is more like a hobby then any sort of end goal. He enjoys it. The people he treats, he could leave or take.
For the most part people around him are seen as merely another interaction, sometimes even going so far as to consider them objects. He doesn’t hate people, but they do tend to be the cause of the majority of his hardships; obstacles. Orion can smile and treat others as sweetly as can be while never truly liking the person. He finds that acting in an accommodating or passive manner tends to make others less trouble for himself. Even those closest to him are usually treated to the standard show of gentle compliance, they just don’t usually have to deal with the subtle backstabbing.
Orion has no qualms with smiling to someone’s face while he actively works to victimize them. This isn’t out of vicious tendencies as that would be too much stress and trouble than it is worth but rather more out of his own self-interest. Said self-interest means that he is quite merciless when he feels someone has cheated him out of something he has earned. Contrary to the face to puts on he is far from altruistic and fully expects payment for his services, regardless of circumstances and has no qualms with retracting said services to deadly effect when not compensated.

History:
Orion Adair was born in East Blue on the island of Gracia. While most of the people he grew up around are highly religious, the way of life on the island had a rather more unexpected effect on the young boy. Instead of going with or against the main religious beliefs of those around him, he learned to smile and keep his mouth shut to things that would irritate those around him. At the age of four, Orion was already beginning to question what he was told. Not maliciously at first, but he began pointing out inconsistencies and flaws in the details of the religion being spouted at him. He wanted a solid answer to things that seemed confusingly vague or irritatingly contrary. The solid answer was not, because faith.
The more often he was told, you must simply believe, the more Orion pushed against those teachings. He started spouting back the inconsistencies with more venom. His lessons involving the religious aspects of his home consisted of him being told what was ‘right’ and him snottily throwing the things that annoyed them most back in their face. He did this a few too many times however. Orion came under fire from the Grand Cleric. As he was only seven at the time, it wasn't anything life threatening but he did suffer consequences that a seven year old boy’s mind might make seem like the end of the world. He was punished with further teachings that would last for hours while his friends were allowed to play.
Sitting in a stifling room and listening to old people rattle on about something he found ridiculous while he watched his friends out a window, Orion started answering with vague positive answers; yes, I see and okay. These sort of simple submissive answers got him let out early. The next day, he repeated the process and was once more released early. From then on, he learned that it not only worked with the Cleric but everyone else who was bothering him. As long as they assumed he agreed with them, they were far more agreeable. He started using it to get things rather than merely getting out of stuff he didn't want to do.
There was one thing that he actually started to enjoy with the daily lessons and that was the concept of healing. While they meant it as more of faith healing of the soul, he still thought faith as ludicrous and so took the literal idea of purging the body while leaving the religious parts. He was allowed to read the books the Clerics had and gathered together a basic understanding of illness and injury by piecemeal. Quickly, he ran out of books with the clerics and convinced the island’s doctor to lend him more. The doctor was under the impression he wanted to work toward a career in medicine and was happy to help guide him. The man received an intelligent assistant for helping to tech the boy what he knew. He was eighteen with he came to the conclusion that he could get no further on his little island. While his parents weren't certain about him going out on his own he set about planning his trip. Between convincing his family and setting out a plan, all while helping out at the island doctor, it took him about a year to finally leave Gracia. He paid a ship to take him to Loguetown and actually spent his nineteenth birthday on the ship a few days out from the town of pirate lore.

Dreams:
To have an easy life. He doesn’t care about being the best of the best or gaining some grand title. Honestly he doesn’t want to be well known because a bounty would make it harder to live easy. What he ultimately wants is to not be forced to work because he needs money for food or fight because he needs to defend something. He doesn’t need a fortune or fame or even friends and family. Orion isn’t sure exactly how to go about getting this life free of all minor irritations but he’s definitely looking to plan the perfect stress free existence.
