Human:
The predominant race in the One Piece world, humans are known for their organization and their technologic advances. They are normally the same size as real life humans, but some of them are much taller (i.e: Gecko Moria was 22'7 ft tall). They have the most variety in body shapes and strange genetic oddities of all races, some of them having long and pointy noses, some having strangely long necks or a square long jaw, or practically any other oddity you can think of within a certain degree of reason. At the beginning of their journey, Humans are as strong as a real life human, being one of the weakest races; however, with enough training they can become Superhumans, being able to achieve strength comparable to a giant's or even greater, so by the time they have quite some experience, they become one of the strongest races. As they are present all over the world, they get neither racial discrimination nor attempts to enslave them, and can travel with more ease through the seas than the other races.
Perks:
-No discrimination or attempts to capture and enslave them, less Bounty Hunter pressure.
-Can travel more easily through the seas due to global presence.
-Are more likely to eat a Devil Fruit. On top of the Devil Fruit Research. Devil Fruit research is 0.5 points easier when grading.
-They feature the greatest variety of genetic oddities and body shapes
-They gain experience and stat ranks more easily. Power Ups and Experience points are earned as if they had 0.5 extra points in their grade
-Access to all kinds of haki, Devil Fruit, etc
-Allowed a height of up to 30 ft tall.
Cons:
-More Marine pressure.
-Start weak, but grow quickly.
-Jack of All Trades, Master of None (generally)
-No real racial perk, since they are the common one.
Cyborg:
Cyborg are humans with technologically advanced equipment merged with their bodies, often replacing some lost limb or certain muscles. The equipment can include replacement for lost organs or limbs, metal skin, and weapons or gadgets placed somewhere in the body. They may appear to be normal humans until wounded, which reveals the metal parts below the human skin. Cyborgs maintain their free will unless the brain has been altered in some way. Essentially cyborgs are living weapons and are stronger than humans of their same rank, in both defense and attack.
Unlike humans, cyborg do NOT get stronger on their own, but instead they can buy and attach weapons and better parts to themselves. The only way for a cyborg to get better by training is in the use of a Devil Fruit, which they can't eat unless they are modified by a scientist with at least Rank B in intelligence (The reason behind this is, cyborgs don't work like normal humans and require to be modified especially for eating a Devil Fruit without causing damage to their metallic parts) Cyborgs present a wide array of weapons and gadgets and feature a great variety between themselves and their attachments. The Cyborg race also covers Robots due to similarity. Only difference is, Robots CAN NOT eat Devil Fruits, but as they are totally made of metal parts, they have fewer weak spots, have high processing capability, facial recognition systems and other perks related to the brain. Robots or cyborgs with modified brains do not need a personality, but they can have one.
Perks:
-They are superior to normal humans, depending on their particular construction.
-Access to devastating and advanced technology and weapons.
-Can become stronger by attaching to themselves new weapons, materials, gadgets, etc.
-Strong to most physical attacks on the mech parts, depending on materials used and the strength of the enemy.
There are three subtypes of the cyborg race: Pure Cyborgs, Vessel Cyborgs and Will Cyborgs.
Pure Cyborgs: Cyborgs who have modified their bodies to become a living weapon.
-No access whatsoever to Haki or Devil Fruits
-Can have up to ten weapons inside their bodies just by leveling up. Can have more, but will not be free.
-They get access to a new weapon and a new passive skill every 15 levels (Up to ten weapons and passives)
-Access to Pure Seastone
Will Cyborgs: Cyborgs with neuro-implants that allows them to use haki at its fullest (most times)
-Access to all three haki.
-More probabilities of getting 3 or 2 affinities and having Emperor's Haki.
-No Devil Fruit allowed
-A weapon and extra passive skill per 50 levels (3 max)
-Access to Refined Seastone only.
Vessel Cyborgs: Modified cyborgs with special Devil Fruit recognition software and the capability to adapt and improve the user's Devil Fruit.
-No access to haki
-Access to Paramecia Devil Fruits.
-A weapon and extra passive skill per 50 levels (3 max)
-Access to Unrefined Seastone only.
Cons:
-They don't get stronger on their own or by training. Only exceptions are non-robotic parts (if the legs are totally human, the speed can get better by training), and Devil Fruit powers.
-Weak at the joints of the metallic parts.
-Weak to electricity and water (can be avoided, but requires buying insulators and water-proof systems).
-Besides the extra weaponry earned with levels, you must buy, make, or earn the cyborg implants, and would need many different occupations to get advanced weaponry (surgeon, cyborg engineer, experimental physicist, blacksmith...).
Please note: A race not being cyborg that starts off normally and then, later on, gets cyborg enhancements or prosthesis, won't be considered a member of this race, and will remain a member of his own race while having augmented capabilities and added weaknesses (water, electric discharges, etc). Special cases of mass cyborg implants will be judged by the mods before deciding on the race the RPC should be.
Fishman:
Fishmen are one of the two races that inhabit and rule the seas, the other being the merfolk. They often look like an anthropomorphic creature of the seas (octopus, manta ray, sharks, etc), and they always have at least but not limited to a pair of legs. They also feature gills between their shoulders and necks, and often have webbed hands. Depending on species, they can have extra limbs, mainly arms (an octopus fishman may have eight arms and two legs) The size also changes between species, ranking from anything human sized to having the size of a giant. Their gills only work in water and breathing air with them results in painful reactions, which is why in land they use their lungs to breathe. Fishman are still mammals and give birth as humans do. They can also interbreed with other races.
Physically, they are ten times stronger than a human from birth and this difference increases even more when under water, as while the humans lose half of their power underwater, fishmen do not only stay the same, but are even strengthened. They are said to be unstoppable while under water, and not only their power is increased, but also they cannot drown and can talk to sea animals, specifically having a certain affinity with large sea monsters, calling out their rage. They can talk normally while underwater. They learn Fishman Karate at the Fishman Dojo of Fishman Island, a fighting style with water manipulation attacks both on land and underwater, being very versatile for most situations. Fishmen usually present a special ability based on their species (an octopus could spit blinding ink), making them even more superior to humans. They are the perfect archenemy for Devil Fruit users, who can't even enter the water without losing all strength.
Perks:
-They get a 10x Strength, Endurance, Stamina Power Up right off the bat.
-Underwater, all of their Power Ups triplicate and their speed is multiplied by 5. That´s multiplying 3 x every Power Up they have, so that at level 1 they would have the Strength, Endurance and Stamina of 30 common humans while underwater, and also the speed of five normal humans on land.
-Access to strange biologic adaptations depending on their aquatic sub-race, can manipulate water by using Fishmen Karate and Fishmen Jujutsu.
-Can talk under water, can communicate slightly with sea animals (slightly means, knowing only a fair bit of a certain language and trying to speak to someone whose main language is that one. You will only understand certain bits of their speech, lacking many pieces to make up what they tried to tell you. In other words, vaguely recognizing their words), and can communicate fully with large sea monsters, can breathe under water. Can also speak perfectly to those of their own species.
Cons:
-Face a certain level of racism when entering human-populated areas, the severity of which changes from place to place.
-May get captured and sold as a slave and people will aim towards them when looking for slaves.
-High pressure from bounty hunters.
Merfolk:
Merfolk are one of the two races that inhabit and rule the seas. Like the mermaids and mermans from folklore, they have the upper half of a human and the lower half of a fish. While mermans keep their fish half as-is, the mermaids split their tail into legs when they turn 30. They also have aquatic subspecies, such as being an ice fish mermaid or a poisonous blue-ringed octopus merman. Mermaids of the same species can have very similar aspect. Unlike Fishmen, they don't eat meat, staying mainly vegetarian.
Merfolk face extreme discrimination due to their past with the human kind. Even though the World Government has attempted to bring them together, merfolk are still considered valuable in zones of the world where slavery is still legal. A mermaid under 30 can go for a starting price of a whooping 70 000 000 beli, a mermaid with their tail split (over 30) can start at 10 000 000 beli, and a merman starts at 1 000 000 beli. Some people have paid over 500 000 000 for a mermaid, and they usually keep them as trophies, or maids.
Merfolk are the fastest swimmers in the sea, surpassing even fishmen. They can speak to fish and can call out to them with a sound wave, seemingly only audible by them. Still, they cannot speak with Sea Kings for reasons yet unknown, besides a certain mermaid of legend who indeed could speak to them. They have developed their own style of combat, Merman Combat, which involves the manipulation of water.
Perks:
-By far the fastest swimmers in the sea. Their speed underwater is multiplied by 10x, meaning any speed Power Up they get gets this multiplier.
-Can speak to sea creatures and call for them, besides controlling the flow of water. Also, they display certain special abilities such as poisoning enemies with touch, due to their aquatic sub-race (not everyone can do this, just poisonous fish mermen)
-The racism displayed to them is usually diminished due to them being considered a beautiful race.
Cons:
-Due to their beauty, they are popular in slave markets.
-High Bounty Hunter pressure, even higher than fishman.
-High Pirate pressure due to the prices the mermaids can get in black markets.
Giants:
Notice how the tall man from the human picture is almost an ant compared to the great size of the giant ahead of him? That's an approximate on the difference between them, at least in size. Giants look like extremely tall humans, with exaggerated body proportions, being so large that, when they cry, their tears can cause large areas to appear flooded. Not to be mistaken with large-size humans such as Moria or Whitebeard. To giants, these are just overgrown ants. A large sized human can get to the knee level of a giant at much, while normal humans get only as far as the ankle. There are also relatively small giants such as Bastille, being the size of a large human.
Giants can live up to three times more than an average human. They can interbreed with fishmen, which produces a wotan. Despite their size, they can indeed feel pain, but it's true they are more resilient than humans. Giants seem to get along with other races, as most are friendly towards others, besides most people think twice before upsetting them. They are an almost unstoppable race, as the normal human can't even hope to stand up to them, making them ideal guards and deadly soldiers. They are often seen surviving cannonballs and explosions practically unharmed or with minor wounds, and even while heavily injured, they still seem to have some life in them to keep fighting. They are also resistant to toxins and diseases. When a giant goes in a rampage, the weak men enter a state of panic, as a giant normally would be unstoppable, an angry one would be even worse
However, their enormous size is their biggest disadvantage, as they are usually slower than other races, besides being extremely easy targets due to their size. They need plenty of room to maneuver without stepping on their allies or destroying buildings. Also, giants through the series have seemed very gullible and most have been tricked into doing something, though it's not been proven all of them are like that.
Note: While giants through the series have displayed truly massive sizes, it isn't practical to do so. They would require huge ships just for them to fit in, not to mention issues with going to towns and fighting human-sized enemies. This is not a rule and under some circumstances, it would not be a hinderance, but if your giant is gonna join some crew in his/her story, try and keep him under 40 ft tall. If it's gonna be a Marine or an Impel Down guard or something, and he won't travel anywhere, then feel free to reach up to 200 ft.
Perks:
-Physically strongest of all races, only outdone by fishmen and even then while the two parties are under water. They get a 50x Strength, Endurance and Stamina from the beginning.
-Extremely large bodies, extended lifespans, and resistance to toxins and diseases.
-No discrimination as they are seen as humans in nature.
Cons:
-Troubles with entering small islands or towns.
-Troubles with maneuvering around allies without stepping on them, or not destroying buildings while fighting.
-Easy to target and shoot at.
-Slower than most races. All of their speed and dexterity Power Ups are divided by 10, meaning that they will only get as fast as a common human would be after training their speed for quite some time, as well as their ability with weapons. That doesn´t mean they can´t just ignore their dexterity and speed entirely and just focus on augmenting their already mighty strength, mind you.
Wotan:
Wotan are a crossbreed species between fishmen and giants. They are big by human standards, but still not as big as a full blooded giant. They also have fishman genes and can perform amazing feats underwater, though they don't become as strong as full blooded fishmen. Their strength comes from adaptability: Though weaker than a giant in land, they are stronger than them under water; similarly, they are beaten easily by fishmen underwater, but can top them on land. They also carry over the genes of their fishman aquatic sub-race, and for example, if the father of a wotan was an octopus fishman, the wotan can spit blinding ink as his father could. They can access fishman karate and water manipulation as well.
Perks:
-Combines the strength of the strongest races known in One Piece. They start with a 25x Power Up in Strength, Endurance, and Stamina, and it is multiplied by 2 when they are underwater. However, they cannot breathe underwater unless they have been bio-engineered.
-Access to biological adaptations depending on the aquatic sub-race.
-Access to fishman karate right off the bat.
Cons:
-Most cons of the giants, but in a lesser degree. All of their speed and dexterity power ups are divided by 5.
-Most cons of the fishman, but to a lesser degree. They are constantly being sought due to being extremely rare and exotic, fetching quite a good price as slaves.
Sky Islander (Skypeian, Shandians, Birkans)
Sky Islanders are the people who inhabit the many different islands in the sky, which are scattered along the Grand Line. They are well adapted to living up in the clouds, and can be broken down into many distinct types. The three of which we are aware are:
The Skypieans are mostly a non-aggressive race who live peacefully on the Sky Islands. They use dials for everyday use, such as cooking. They have small wings similar to the ones found on the backs of the Shandia. They greet each other by saying 'Heso', often while putting their hand against their head and sticking two fingers up.
The Shandians are a very dedicated race, whose worship and determination has held their people through the toughest of times. They are skillful warriors who often fight fiercely and are loyal to their tribe. Their dress generally resembles dress of Native Americans and their skin is often decorated with tattoos that cover large areas of their bodies (leading the Straw Hats to constantly refer to them as "guerrillas"). Their wings are similar to that of the Skypieans in the shape and upward direction, however they tend to have several more feathers, which are longer and have a more defined shape than the Skypieans'.
The Birkans, like Shandians and the residents of Skypiea, are endowed with wings on their backs. However, they are differentiated from the other two races by how their wings face downwards. Unlike Skypieans and Shandia, the people of Birka tend to dress in long white robes, gowns, and other quasi-religious vestments. Birka was said to be home to many strong warriors; however, their combined might was nothing when compared to Enel.
Though distinct in culture and appearance, all Sky Islanders share a number of certain traits. They are all well-suited to survive in cold low oxygen environments and show no difficulty operating in such conditions, which were enough to bring superhumans such as Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji to their knees (Albeit temporarily). They all use dial-based technology for almost everything, mysterious devices made from the remains of particular shellfish, which have the ability to store energy and matter. Because of this, they often do not understand the worth of other materials such as rubber and gold. Certain members have displayed an innate understanding of Kenbunshoku Haki (Observation Haki), which they know as Mantra, but it is unknown whether this is a result of a racial ability or specific training.
Perks:
-Angel-like beings, featuring wings (though they are not able to fly with them).
-They have early access to the extremely expensive and rare Dials.
-Their eyes are accustomed to high-speed winds which would hurt human eyes, making them more accurate. They start with a 5x Power Up in Marksmanship
-Hollow bones, bodies with almost no fat, and balanced muscle growth make them not only lighter than the normal human (given that the two have the same muscle mass), but also quicker and stronger, though not for a great margin. They start with a 5x Power Up in Strength, Endurance and Speed.
-Lungs adapted to extracting air from high altitudes in harsh conditions, and a system accustomed to not feeling nausea due to living in the sky their whole life makes them perfect for aerial combat at high altitudes. Their stats are multiplied by 2 when they are at least 100 feet off the ground and don´t go back to normal until they touch the ground. It stays like that all the time in a Sky Island or Floating Island.
Cons:
-The wings can be ripped off, and it's extremely painful to the Sky Islander.
-Most human cons.
Long Limb Tribe:
The Longlimb Tribes are indeed tribes that exist in the world of One Piece. They are human, but humans that have developed unique adaptations that set them apart from the normal stock. We know of two tribes at this point:
The Longarm Tribe, as their name suggests, have two elbow joints on each arm which results in them having abnormally long arms. Furthermore, all members seen so far wear Chinese style clothing, with a kanji in the front. The kanji varies from person to person. Other than that, they have the same appearance as normal humans. The incredible long arms of the Longarm tribe endows them with not only with great reach but incredible arm strength as well. They appear to be based on Japanese legendary creature called a Tenaga-jin, whose most notable characteristic is their long arms.
The Longleg Tribe, as their name suggests, are a race of very long-legged individuals. Their legs can be more than twice as long as their head and torso, and because of this they are very tall, outsize the average human greatly (although they are nowhere near as tall as giants). The incredible long legs of the Longleg tribe endows them with not only height but incredible leg strength as well, and those that are hit by the legs of a Longleg fighter consider them to be like metal whips. As acknowledged by fighters in the Corrida Colosseum, the legs are the most important part of the tribe's fighting form. Therefore, aiming for them seems to be their most vulnerable weakness. However, due to the speed a trained Longleg fighter can move their legs at, landing just a single blow is not always possible to do. They appear to be based on Japanese legendary creature called a Ashinaga-jin (足長人?), whose most notable characteristic is their long legs.
As is obvious, each tribe boasts extreme power and dexterity in their respective limbs, making them very capable fighters if push comes to shove. Unfortunately their freakish appearances are often a lure for kidnapping crews at Sabaody Archipelago, who sell them as slaves because their prices are much higher than a regular human. The tribes and races caught up in the slave trade are often sold for a higher price than "normal" humans, the standard price for a Tribe member being 700,000 Beli.
Perks:
-Explosive power in their respective limbs. Strength and Dexterity is multiplied by 2 on their respective long limbs.
-Uniquely bizarre aspect in a world of many strange characters.
Cons:
-Discrimination and attempts to enslave, though less than the fishmen and merfolk.
Dwarves:
Dwarves are a tribe in the One Piece world, who have thus far only been seen on the island of Dressrosa. They are an extremely small sentient race. In comparison to an average sized human, their difference in height is approximately the same as that between a normal-sized human and an average-sized giant. They are mostly human in shape, apart from having a thick fluffy tail and chibi-like proportions. They are behind Dressrosa's belief in fairies and accept the country's offerings to them.
Despite their small size, dwarves possess great strength, with a single dwarf being able to easily destroy a building. They are very fast, enough for them to disappear in a blink of a second, making it nearly impossible for a normal person to see them. They are known as great cultivators as they stated that they can cultivate any plant, as evidenced by the abundance of plant life on Green Bit. Dwarves refer to humans as "Big Humans" and casually ask them whether they are good or bad and as a tradition a good human can prove him/herself by either giving up their weapons or being stripped of all their possessions. Dwarves are very careful not to be seen by any humans as they will try to kill anyone who sees them unless they promise not to tell anyone of their existence. They are also gullible to anything humans say to them, making them easily fooled.
Their power even enables them to hunt the mighty fighting fish, who are known for their massive size and strength. It is possible that they exist on other islands besides Dressrosa, as they are listed as a popular type of slave for purchase in the auction houses on Sabaody Archipelago, being worth 700,000 Beli.
Perks:
-Small, extremely cute humanoids only a few inches tall, easily underestimated.
-Their speed and strength are far superior to what their small size would imply, as they are able to lift heavy things with enough effort and run almost unseen by humans. Their Speed starts as 50x and their Strength, as 25x.
-Able to get in and out of areas most people wouldn't even think of.
Cons:
-So small, simply stepping over them is enough to harm them heavily, not to say using Devil Fruit powers or actually slashing them. Less resilience than other races. Their Endurance and Stamina is divided by 5 at all times.
Halflings:
A Halfling is a half-human, half-another race, or in a rare occurrence, a half-x, half-y where x and y are races other than human. The person seen in the picture above, Dellinger, is a half-fishman, half-human, which grants him half the power of a fishman (5 times a human being's power from birth, even more underwater), and also a fish-like back-fin, blood-shot eyes and other fishman features. Since the staff members can't possibly keep track of all the possible combinations, once you put in your bio your character's status as a halfling and specify the two races from which he was born, then the staff will take care of putting up a custom template of your cons and pros, race-wise. Remember not to try and make impossible crossbreeds, such as giant-dwarf, since it's pretty obvious because of anatomic issues why that would be almost impossible. IF you find a way around it (maybe artificial breeding?) the mods will think about it and approve-disapprove. Preferably, send us a message beforehand with your idea, to save us both time and unnecessary editing.
Cons/Pros: Custom according to race crossbreeds.
Mink Tribe:
An ancient race of anthropomorphic mammals, the Mink Tribe had been away from civilization for more than an entire millennium, and yet have remained in touch with the world via the newspaper and the occasional Mink who decided to leave their ancestral home, Zou. While the males appear much more beastly than the females (which look like fur-covered human females) they all keep slight traces of either human or animal forms, and are able to tap into characteristics of the animal race they are based in. They are very warm to other Minks and humans, and tend to show affection in a playful manner known as "Minkship", where they cuddle against, nibble on, lick or exchange clothes with people from other races, often humans. They are all born warriors and retain their strength from birth and up to their old age, besides being able to tap into Electro, or emitting electricity from their hands, from birth. As such, they are immune to electric shocks and resistant to cold given their thick fur, yet this makes them weak against heat.
Perks:
-They will always be treated as a Hybrid form of a Zoan or Carnivorous Zoan Devil Fruit. As they also start with extra stats (according to their animal) since they are born warriors and even a child is able to beat New World thugs, they would be potentially stronger or faster than Fishmen on land from birth.
-Given their "permanent Hybrid form", they may start with certain abilities pertaining to a certain animal (such as extreme jumping power and leg strength for rabbit Minks and augmented sense of smell for canine Minks)
-They start with a unique technique called Electro, which allows them to coat their hands in electricity through unknown means. Unless trained to become more powerful through Technique Power Ups or a new technique based in Electro is made, it will keep the same strength from the user´s birth to their old age. This electricity can be used along with metallic or conductive weaponry and items, and has every property that normal electricity would have.
-They are resistant against the cold given their thick fur.
-Excellent recovery speed and metabolism, being able to recover from almost dying to fighting with everything they´ve got in only two weeks, or less according to particular species.
Cons:
-They suffer from slavery rings given their price of 700.000 berri in the black market. Bounty Hunters also tend to put more pressure on them, and even other factions may pursue them with the purpose of making them pets, including the Celestial Dragons.
-They have a weakness to heat, including hot temperatures and Devil Fruit powers or fighting styles based in heat, fire, magma, etc.
-They have animalistic weaknesses. For example, a monkey Mink would chase after bananas if an opponent threw them around, and a bull Mink would try to ram into any fluttery cloth he may find. This needs to be specified in your bio as one of your likes, with a "(animalistic weakness)" next to it (without the quotation marks).
-Minkship (which is actually a meta-weakness, but basically means that the players must RP the Mink characters as cuddly and affectionate to their allies or even people they´ve just met and kinda trust a bit, which basically only excludes their enemies. They think nothing of this invasion of personal space and have no qualms in licking, nibbling, cuddling, or exchanging clothes with others, as they see it as common as a handshake or a playful gesture).
